Frequently Asked Questions
What is your style?

My style is clean, crisp and colors that are true to you and your real life. I offer a combination of wrapped, baby led posing, studio style and lifestyle newborn photography along with natural family photography. Whether we are working in a studio environment, on-location or in the comfort of your home my approach is the same and I hope to encourage a personal, fun and engaging experience. I have wraps, headbands, blankets, faux furs and baskets that I bring along to every session or you will have access to in-studio. My style is less is more and I try to keep the focus on you and your little one.

Lifestyle photography in the home allows me to document the whole story behind our session together. My camera is usually on the entire time, because it’s usually the moment I look away, that your toddler finds me absolutely hilarious! But I’m fast and I’m silly so I’m usually able to keep the smiles coming as we continue to play and photograph. I will pose you all together and have you get cozy for a family shot and then transition to tickles for those heart warming candids that you won’t be able to resist sharing!! I’m confident you will have beautiful memories of these precious moments with your family no matter what, and I just can’t wait to be apart of it!

When Should I book my newborn session?

Anytime, but the sooner the better! Newborn’s are often the sleepiest shortly after they are born. When you have your session within the first two weeks, they tend to cooperate better – but really every baby is different! Most of our sessions are booked prior to delivery and your tentative due date is added to the calendar. Don’t worry if time has gotten away on you and you are past that mark, I can photograph a baby of any age and will prepare you with what to expect. Memories know no age!

How do i book my session?

The booking process is fairly straightforward, please use the contact form to get in touch. Any and all information you provide in the message will help me cater the right information to you for your specific session. I will get back to you to confirm the availability of your preferred date or to schedule a tentative due date for you. We will then jump on the phone for a quick chat so we can get to know each other briefly and make sure we are both a good fit for each other. From there you will receive a copy of my Portrait Agreement for you to review and sign. It is only once I have received the non-refundable retainer of $250 and the signed agreement that your session will be booked and your rate will be locked in – prices are subject to change without notice and custom quotes can expire if not properly secured. Then you are done and can sit back, relax and get excited as you prepare for your session!

What Do i need to do before the session?

My favorite little humans are new to the world and still figuring things out, and hey, maybe you are too sleepy mom or dad! I am here to help. Over the years and throughout the numerous sessions photographed, I have definitely picked up some tips and tricks of the trade that help set us up for success when working with your little ones. Once you have booked your session, head over to my prep guide to help you prepare for your newborn session. Along with other useful suggestions that can apply to any session. I’m always here as well if you have any questions or concerns about your session or what to expect. This should be a pleasant and enjoyable experience. The less stressed everyone is, the happier everyone is and the more likely we are to achieve awesome images that reflect the love & joy between you and your crew!

It helps to get any siblings looking forward to the upcoming session as well – excitement can make it more fun for everyone! I allow them the chance to get acclimated both to me, my camera and the whole idea of the photo shoot – I also try to get sibling poses out of the way earlier on or be sure to incorporate lots of breaks for play.

With newborns, they lead the session and I follow suit, if something isn’t working, that’s okay! We simply move on to the next portion and can circle back if there’s time. I won’t force anything, no matter how badly you want a specific shot. I say it with love; your baby and your family’s safety is my main priority and very important to me. At the end of the day the baby is the boss!

WHat happens after my session?

Once the session has wrapped, your images will be added into my current workflow. Your images will go through a round of professional edits before being uploaded to an online watermarked proofing gallery for you to view, share and order using the online boutique. You will also select your digitals if they’re included or purchased and receive them via download. Normal turn around is approximately 2 weeks (excluding Holidays) for proofing galleries. I will adjust the color/contrast and feel of the image to suit my style, I also do light edits for any wild flyaways, stains or boo boos. I don’t however retouch in a way that alters anyones appearance completely. Detailed edits can be requested and quoted on an individual basis. BUT I think you are beautiful just the way you are!
